Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

What a great looking site I'm very new to marine after having tropical for 3 years. I've had my tank going for about 6 weeks lol but not rushed into buying fish ect. I just have 2 chromis and 1 cleaner shrimp. small amount of live rock, But it was the corals that drew me to a marine tank, So any information on where to start with them what to go for first, I have been looking on ebay but any help from here would be very much appreciated.

    Gail.

Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

Hi Gail welcome to the site!! I too was drawn to marines by staring at the 8ft reef tank in my lfs when i used to keep freshwater!! That soon changed lol!!

What type of lighting do you have?? Some corals depend on a lot of light aswell as good water quality!! If we know the type of lighting you have then it would be a big help for us to help you with!!

Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

    Hi Gail,
I would stay away from a lot of the sellers on EBay as they can really rip people off with 2/3 polyp frags for lots of money.
Once you know the type of corals you like and are able to keep in your set up keep an eye out on the forums like this one for bargain pieces.

Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

Hello Gail, welcome to the site.
I agree with frosttelecoms alot of sellers on ebay can rip people
    off.
It would help to know what lighting do you have? may be able to send you a few easy keep frags if you can cover the postage.

Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

One of the best ways of posting pictures is to set up an account at www.photobucket.com. It really easy to use and you can get the pictures to show in your post.
With a twin T5 you can keep quite a few soft corals such as zoas, mushrooms, toadstools etc.

Hi All Very new to this great hobbie.

I agree about ebay from my own experience when i bought a coral off there and something totally different to the pic arrived.
With only a twin T5 you'd need to place zoas high up as i've found they need alot of light.Mushrooms and toadstool corals will adjust to less light.
Another option is LPS corals. Some of mine are in really shady corners but feed them regularly and they'll do ok.Some LPS such as the beautiful suncoral don't need any light just feeding.
